Granite and marble block cutting

Granite and marble should be evaluated with their origin, block dimensions and required slab thickness. A commercial stone name alone does not describe every processing condition. When requesting a proposal, include photographs and any existing cutting records so that Stonewin can assess the application.

Other natural stones need an application review

For other natural stones, including materials marketed as quartzite or luxury stone, suitability should be assessed before equipment selection. Abrasiveness, mineral composition, cracks and structural variation can affect the proposed cutting process. A general description of natural-stone capability is not confirmation for every material.

Match the diamond wire to the material

Select the bead specification and diameter together with the machine configuration and the stone. Wire speed, feed, tension and cooling must suit the application. Do not transfer a successful setting from one stone to another without an appropriate review.

Information to send for an assessment

Provide the stone name, origin, clear photographs, typical and maximum block dimensions, target thickness and known defects. Mention any previous cutting difficulties. Stonewin may recommend cutting trials when cracks or variable composition make performance uncertain.
